3rd Sudbury Scout Group can provide Powerboat Training – whatever your age or experience at our ‘in house’ RYA Training Centre. We operate at two locations depending on which course is being taught. Our Scout Hut situated next the the River Stour provides an ideal location to introduce powerboating and teach level 1 to Scouts as young as 8. We also operate out of Brightlingsea which offers a superb environment in which to develop your powerboat skills at level 2.

Course Content

• RYA Powerboat Level 1 gives a introduction to power boating techniques, launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. It also includes  picking up and securing to a mooring buoy, leaving and coming alongside and being towed.
• RYA Powerboat Level 2 includes more powerboating techniques, close quarters handling, high speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery and collision regulations. For more detail about the syllabus please see the link section.

• Course Dates

• May 18th – 20th Powerboat Level 2
• July 27th – 29th Powerboat Level 2
• Sept 14th – 16th Powerboat Level 2

Cost

• Powerboat Level 1 at sudbury £55pp by arrangement based on 3 scouts on the course.
• Powerboat Level 2 £120pp.
• Powerboat Level 2 with camping £155pp.
• For non group members please add £5 to the course fee.
• Grants for leaders contact GSL or DC’s.
